Steve Miller
Stock Car "99s"
Steve Miller a Refrigeration Technician in Tonawanda, started racing in
1999 whem his older brother Jon was racing. Steve was helping out Jon when
he fell in love with the sport. Later that year, Steve was offered to
drive a car for another driver. Initially starting in the 28th pasition,
he came home with a second place finish. Steve was then offered to drive
for car owner Derrick Gerling.
In 200, Steve started his first season of racing with the 99 streetstock
owned by Derrik Gerling.
Jumping off to a quick start with 3 weeks into the season, he brought home
his first feature win.
Continuing the fast start, he added 4 more feature wins and won his first
ever championship as a rookie driver.
Steve had a opportunity in 2001 to move up to a prostock division under
car owner Dave Stolenburg, Steve came home with a fourth place finish. In
the final points at the end of 2001, season car owner Dave Stolenburg had
relocated to North Carolina leaving Steve carless for the 2002 season.
Midway through 2002 Steve was picked by John Cocco to drive for him in the
remainder of 2002. While Steve had a little time off, he quickly got back
to victory by the end of 2002 with his first feature win in the prostock
division.
In 2003, Steve stayed with car owner Jon Cocco; but had one of the
toughest seasons, with 3 blown motors.
Rob Boyer offered Steve a deal in 2004.Changing sponsors he would now be
driving the Blue Moon Potatoes car number 99s. That year proved triumphant
going on to win 4 more feature wins and the most significant 100-lap "King
of the hill" race.
Steve continued with car owner Rob Boyer in 2005, winning Dirt Prostock
Stacker Two Tour Show.
The 2006 season was Steves worst year ever with six blown motors and one
car destroying wreck.
Moving up to the Dirt Sportsman Division in 2007, Steve was named Rookie
of the year in the Sportsman Division. He finished 4th in points.
During then 2008 season, Steve cam home with his first ever Sportsman
Feature. In 2009 Steve currently plans on staying with the Sportsman
Division and possibly a deal with driving a few 358 Modified Shows.
